Accessibility Statement
Last updated: October 10, 2026
We want everyone to be able to find, read, and cook from our recipes, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or other assistive technology.
Our target
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. The site has not been formally audited by an independent accessibility specialist, so we do not claim full conformance.
What we have done
- Pages use headings, landmarks, and lists so screen readers can navigate them.
- Form fields have visible labels, and errors are announced to assistive technology.
- Ingredient and step checklists, filters, dialogs, and menus work with a keyboard. Dialogs close with Escape.
- Keyboard focus is clearly outlined.
- Animations are reduced when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Each recipe has a plain, printable version and can be copied or downloaded as text.
Known limitations
- Photos are illustrative stock images; their descriptions are general rather than detailed.
- Some small secondary text may have lower contrast than we would like; we are reviewing it.
- Results from the AI recipe generator are written automatically and may be less consistently structured than our edited recipes.
Report a barrier
If something on the site is hard to use, please email editorial@homemaderecipe.net with the page address and a short description of the problem, and the browser or assistive technology you were using if you can. We read every report and will try to fix the issue or provide the content in another way.
